Some or the early Chinese furniture was built for dynasties dating back to 200 b.c., when joiner/ of the finest quality was developed without the use ot pens, pins or glue. Puzzle like joints held together for centuries. Around a.:j. 1400, their use of what the French later named the cabriole leg became a distinctive element of later Chinese dynast furniture
The Renaissance (a.d. 1800-1599)
Coming out of the Middle Ages, the do-all chest was just beginning to be customized for specific purposes. The reign of the Tudors (1485-1603) was the last phase of Gothic style and the beginning of the Renaissance
